Hospitallers

What stared out as a scrappy volunteer medical outfit has since evolved into a well-funded and well-organised battalion of combat medics and helpers who have been continuously delivering desperately-needed medical aid to the Ukrainian military for the past ten years.

You can find them here on Instagram www.instagram.com/hospitallers.ukraine_paramedic

This is their fundraising site: www.hospitallers.life

And here are the (brutal) training courses they offer: https://hospitallers-courses.webflow.io

One of the things we discovered while working with The Hospitallers is that the language barrier between Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian speakers is amplified in a war scenario. Communication is vital, and the risks of danger as a result of miscommunication are so great, the base commanders are reluctant to assign foreign medics to the Ukrainian casevac and stabilisation point teams near the zero lines (non-Ukrainian speaking foreigners were benched, in other words).

Turning up with your own vehicle and a Ukrainian-speaking partner is a good way of getting off the bench. The base commanders are far more likely to assign foreign medics a rotation if their teams are already formed and their equipment is in place. Our goal, therefore, is to try and help pull these teams together.
